Features The Sun Now
On Monday 21st Aug 2017, a total solar eclipse will occur and the entire disk of the Sun will be covered by the Moon.
An expedition has been organized to observe this amazing event from the USA, as the Moons shadow sweeps across the country from coast to coast.
Images will be acquired and transmitted near-live worldwide from Wyoming, weather permitting. The observations are made using a Celestron CGEM mount and two telescopes: a Coronado Solarmax II 90, in H-alpha spectral range, and a Bresser AR-102, in white-light spectral range.
The images are taken and shown every 30 seconds approximately.WARNING: Remember, never look directly at the Sun, or through unfiltered telescopes, binoculars or other optical devices!
Only during a total eclipse totality phase it can be observed directly with the naked eye.
The activity is part of the CESAR programme (Cooperation through Education in Science and Astronomy Research), a joint educational and scientific programme developed by the European Space Agency (ESA), the Spanish National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA) and the company ISDEFE, conceived as a link between astronomy research and the education community.New section "The Sun Now".
